Process Sucks!

If you have been spinning your wheels or you’re all over the place, you may be avoiding the main thing – process. If you start the process now, you may have established something quite beautiful a year from now or even six months from now.

It was quite recently when I realized the importance of doing the dirty work – discipline, strategy or plan, faithfulness, observation, reasoning, and consistency—in other words, going through the process. I get it; the series of actions or steps taken to achieve a particular end or change takes time.

I was never a fan of “the process.” I like instant gratification.

The process can be found with learning something new; you don’t want to complete the process because you feel you “already have it.” In the end, you have wasted your time because you have not obtained all you needed to learn that area.

It could be with losing the weight; you work out all week only to overindulge on the weekends, or you attempt to lose too much weight at once. This was me – for years! Wisdom says, lose one or two pounds a week with balanced exercise and diet. It’s best to make it a lifestyle rather than a marathon.

Or when you meet people, you are so quick to categorize them as friends or romantic partners when no trustworthiness has been established. This was me too! I found myself wondering why things didn’t work out, or I ended up being hurt. It was because I was moving too fast.

I have now settled into the need for the process. It requires you to slow down, dive deep, really hone in on what you are trying to accomplish. Where are some areas you need to go ahead and walk in the process?

I dive deeper into this in this week’s podcast. You may listen at anchor.fm/livefromyourheart
